Sisters of the Sacred Wild
A Wild Church Community
We are a group of sisters, who are not related by blood, but by our common kinship with the sacred other in the more than human world. Nourished by our deep Belonging, we come together once a month in the sacred wild to be held in the tender embrace of the Holy One, by whatever name we may call her/him, or maybe even no name at all, as the Great Mystery is beyond words or names.
Our meeting place is on the ancestral lands of the Nanticoke & Assateague peoples in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed in Berlin, Maryland. We journey, we drum, we wander, we share stories, prayers and songs all while being held by the elements of nature. We follow the Celtic seasonal year, celebrating the four major festivals of Samhain, Brighid’s Day, Beltaine, and Lughnassadh. We incorporate the practices of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh’s mindful living by recognizing our interbeing with all of life, and aspire to walk mindfully on the Earth, incorporating The Five Mindfulness Trainings as a guiding means to our work and care for the world. We tend to environmental concerns in our local area, as well as, climate change as each of us is able.
We are Sisters of the Sacred Wild, a member of the Wild Church Network, and an Earth Holder Sangha in the Plum Village tradition founded in 2020.
Gathering once a month in person in the Berlin, Maryland area, and once a month online. Please inquire if you are longing for a sisterhood of like minded souls.
Ocean of Peace Mindfulness Sangha
A Plum Village Community
Practicing in the Tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh
We are a grassroots community established in 2003, who come together to share the practices and teachings of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. Through mindful walking, conscious breathing, deep relaxation, and Dharma sharing, we aspire to cultivate deep peace within ourselves and the world. Knowing that our words and actions don’t belong to us alone, that they ripple out and affect others, we use The Five Mindfulness Trainings, and The Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings of the Order Of Interbeing, as our guiding means for daily living. Knowing that we are on the path, we feel hopeful for the future.
We meet in person monthly in the Berlin, Maryland area, and have an international sangha online via Zoom every Wednesday 3-4pm EST. Our practice includes chanting, sitting and walking meditation, Dharma talks, and Dharma sharing. Occasionally we choose a book for further exploration and study, which becomes part of our Dharma sharing.
All levels of experience and practice are welcome!
